A note from the founder
From Shells
Biageli is a return to self.
For over two decades, I built a career in pharmaceutical sciences while a creative voice inside me waited. I told myself the timing wasn’t right. That the dream could wait one more year. Then another. Then another.
I delayed this dream for over a decade.
Then illness came. Stage 3 cancer. The kind of dark that has no easy bottom. Somewhere in that darkness, not despite it, but because of it, I found my lapis. The place where my creativity and my pragmatism finally met. Where the scientist and the storyteller stopped arguing and began to build.
One day, in the middle of recovery, I picked up a pencil and sketched my first print.
That sketch was the beginning of Biageli.
The brand carries her name. OBIAGELI. My mother. A woman who wore African prints like declarations. Who moved through rooms with quiet authority that needed no announcement. She is the ease in every flowing hem. The strength in every structured print. The spirit this brand was built to honor.
Biageli is my bloom. Named for her. Built from my own escape, my dream, my becoming. At 46, I stepped into the thing I had delayed for most of my adult life and I have not looked back.
We launched. We sold out. We restocked. We sold out again. And now we return, deeper, bolder, more fully expressed.
Every print in this collection is a chapter in the story of that journey. And an invitation into yours.
Because valid dreams don’t expire.
